As summer starts and the sun gets stronger, it’s extremely important to ensure you’re keeping your skin safe! Sun exposure can lead to dark spots, fine lines, acne scarring, and uneven skin texture. If you’re interested in battling these skin concerns, then keep reading!
Number One: Renée Rouleau’s Triple Berry Smoothing Peel ($86.50)
Although this product is on the more expensive side, I promise you it’s worth it. Every time I use this peel I notice an instant, drastic change in my skin’s texture and dullness. According to the product description, “this contains a powerful blend of antioxidant-rich berries with five skin smoothing fruit AHAs, BHAs and enzymes to clear blemishes and clogged pores, fade post-breakout marks, lift discoloration, stimulate cellular renewal and smooth surface texture while reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and large pores.” Another bonus: this product lasts a long time and a little goes a long way.
Number Two: Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 PA+++ ($65)
Sunscreen should be a quintessential part of one’s skincare routine, and I cannot rave about this sunscreen enough. It smooths out all my visible pores, while also protecting my skin from California’s strong UV rays. This product has a matte, poreless-looking finish and is a great primer for your everyday makeup.
Number Three: Mac Strobe Body Cream ($33)
Mac’s body strobe cream is very similar to their face strobe cream (which I also love). It adds a beautiful, irredescant radiance to the skin. I especially love applying it to my collar bones and the tops of my shoulders for a natural, glowy appearance.
Number Four: Dove Exfoliating Body Polish Body Scrub ($6)
This product is inexpensive and effective, and honestly, what could be better than that?! I was introduced to this product when my mom bought it, and once I tried it I was completely sold. This product erases any of your body’s pesky bumps and rough texture; it removes dead skin while restoring your skin’s natural moisture. I truly can’t rave about this product enough.
Number Five: Glossier’s Solution, Exfoliating Skin Perfector ($24)
I am currently on my second bottle of this solution: it is an absolute staple in my skincare routine. Glossier describes this product as such: this solution “gently sloughs dead cells away through chemical exfoliation, ungluing the problematic dead cells hiding and clogging healthy skin beneath. With daily use, expect cleared acne and blackheads, smaller pores, and reduced redness. Skin’s texture will be smoother and softer, and the fabled glow of balanced, healthy skin will be in full force.” I promise you the description holds true and you won’t regret purchasing this product. I have noticed a radical change in my skin’s texture and tone: originally, my skin was clogged, dry, and bumpy, but this product eradicated all of these issues. My skin is now blackhead free and is smoother than ever before. Bonus: it works for sensitive skin too!
Number 6: Tan Luxe’s The Gradual ($33)
How can you look healthy & glowy without a great, natural-looking tan? Well, you simply cannot if you’re as pale as me. I was introduced to this product from one of my bestest friend’s Bella Smith (my natural tanning guru). I’ve been using this for about a week now (I use it daily after I shower), and my tan is streak-free and has the perfect tone for my skin. This product is gradual and adapts to anyone’s skin tone and skin texture. When used regularly, this product creates a deep and natural tan, while also hydrating the skin.
Number Seven: Dr. Oracle’s A-Thera Tea Tree Peeling Sticks ($24 for pack of ten)
I was drawn to this product when I saw SokoGlam’s chief curator raving about it. This product is great for people who struggle with cystic acne and rough skin texture: it speeds up the healing process for acne and smooths the skin surface, creating a polished, silky appearance.
Number Eight: Supergoop! Forever Young Hand Cream With Sea Buckthorn SPF 40 ($12)
The first part of your body that shows signs of aging and wrinkling is your hands. Whether you’re driving, at work, or just hanging by the pool, keeping your hands protected from the sun is very important! This is one of my all-time favorite and efficient hand creams for summer – it’s lightweight and nourishing.
Number Nine: Herbivore Rose Quartz Facial Roller ($45)
This double sided facial roller “eliminates toxins, reduces puffiness, and improves blood circulation to even out skin tone. Also, works great when combined with one of our facial oils as a way of working the oil more deeply into the skin for deeper penetration of nutrients and increased skin benefits.” Not all facial rollers are this high end or expensive, but hey, it’s pretty and pink (check out Amazon for cheaper alternatives).
Number Ten: Clarins Hydra-Essential Gel Cream ($48)
Even though you tend to produce more sebum and sweat during the summer season, it is still extremely important to hydrate and replenish your skin. This cream is a favorite of mine for the summer time because it fights against temperature changes, outdoor pollutants, and environmental stress. It’s like a glass of water for your skin!
