Although I always love to experiment with makeup, the summer season always excites me to want to try new, more enticing, colorful, and glossy looks. So many of social media’s hit it-girls are stepping out of the box and wearing a multitude of dimensional, fierce eye-looks. Whether you want to copy these exact looks, or just derive inspiration from them is up to you! Makeup is about having the freedom to experiment and play; it’s a way to bring out the features you love about yourself and to be excited and confident about your external appearance. Continue reading to learn more about the top trending makeup looks everyone is talking about this summer… You won’t want to miss this!

Retro Blue Diffused Eye Shadow

Katie Jane Hughes and DreyAfrica introduced this trend just a few months back. The retro blue diffused eye shadow look has taken off ever since. They used very similar blue hues: a slightly off aquamarine shade that makes you feel like you’re sitting poolside.

Glitter & Metallic Green

Celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez, and more have been channeling their inner nature lover and rocking bold, sparkly, travel-inspired green eye looks. The key to perfecting this eyeshadow trend is to prime your lids before shadow application, use a fluffy brush to apply a mauve-y beige shadow in your crease, and finally wet a clean flat brush before picking up the green shadow and applying it to your lid!

Abstract Crease & Neon Liner

This Summer trend has got to be my favorite of the season: you have so much creative freedom to design a unique look that suits you, in any color of your choice. Brands have been flocking to this trend and creating a plethora of gel, liquid, and pencil liners with an extensive color range, making it easier for you to mix and match eye looks with every outfit! Watch a Youtube tutorial by the incredible makeup artist Hindash here to learn how to accomplish a trendy, yet simple abstract liner look!

Burnt Orange

This look, as seen on Sydney Carlson and Bella Hadid (by @hungvanngo), screams sunset vibes. Whether you’re going out for the night with your girls, getting ready for a date with your latest Hinge match, or even attending a wedding, this look will make your eyes pop regardless of their color.

Smoked Out Winged Black Liner

This sultry, easy-to-create eye look is my go-to inspiration for whenever I’m in a rush to get ready for a night out. Unlike your typical cat-eye liner, this one is way easier and faster to achieve. You can accomplish this look with almost any black eye shadow and precision brush, or you can use one of the products below to make it that much easier! I love to use stick or pencil liner when building this look; I’ll first drag the liner along my lash line, without creating a point at the end. Afterward, I use a small precision brush or smudger brush (see hyperlinks for exact brushes I use) to blend out the edges. I’ll then use a pointed liquid or pencil liner to create the wing in my outer corner (I try to angle my wing’s outer point to go up towards the end of my eyebrow). I’ll then take that same precision brush with a black shadow or the original eyeliner to smoke out the wing’s outline!

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eyeliner ($29)

Kat Von D Anti-Precision Pencil Eyeliner ($19)

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil ($22)

Flirty, Soft Peach

Soft and flirty peach looks have been dominating my Instagram feed all summer, and they’re definitely the easiest trend to create. I love to use a peach transition shade, like the Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie shadow seen below, to define to my crease. I typically then go in with my ring or pinky finger to apply a more reflective, sparkly peach shadow all over my lid!
